Junior Carnival and Scotiabank Caribana ™Junior Carnival
Parade” Friday, July11th, 2008 11.30am – 1.30pm Official Media Launch for the 2008 Scotiabank Caribana™ Junior Carnival Parade WHO: The Festival Management Committee (FMC), managers of 2008 Scotiabank Caribana™ festival, along with members of the Toronto Mas Band Association, the Yorkgate Mall, NBA star and Mas Bandleader Jamaal Magloire, the Metro Toronto Police Force, junior carnival performers in costume, and a special performance by Jane & Finch’s own, S. Davis. WHAT: The official launch of FMC’s “2008 Scotiabank Caribana™ Junior Carnival Parade” sponsored by the Yorkgate Mall. The actual parade will be held on Saturday July 19th. WHERE: Yorkgate Mall, Party Room (located on the second floor). The mall is located at the NW corner of the Jane/Finch intersection. Free parking. WHEN: Doors Open at 11.45 Conference/Speakers start at 12.00; Entertainment & costumed children performers until 1p. WHY: The Junior Carnival is an important cultural event, held annually in the Jane Finch Corridor, which this year will attract over 1,600 costumed children. The Junior Carnival Parade mirrors the Scotiabank Caribana™ Parade. The Junior Carnival Parade is where children learn the traditions of Mas and carnival. MISC:
