SMOKING HOT, BUT STILL SO COOL
By: Ayla Gainy

D.M. Cool is more than just a rapper. Cool is an entertainer. D.M.Cool and a friend have created an internet show that discusses hot topics such as sex, money, and many men vs. women topics. Cool is currently signed to the independent label "I Respect Music." I have been fortunate enough to hear and see Cool perform live. This Oakville resident is currently in post secondary education at Sherdian College.

Cool has been fortunate to perform at the 2nd Annual Fashion Explosion in Scarborough and various showcases hosted by "I Respect Music." Keep an eye out for this new, but true face in the game.

Ayla: When did you start rapping?
Cool: I started rapping when I was fourteen.

Ayla: What or who inspired you to the game?
Cool: Well I've always grown up around hip hop since I was younger, so just listening to all those artists inspired me. I was always good at creative writing like storytelling. One day when I was in high school my Dad got me a mic that I can plug into the computer, so I wrote a quick rhyme to test it out, and from that point I just kept going with it.

Ayla: What are some goals you have outside of music?
Cool: Well right now I'm in college studying journalism-broadcast, and with that I plan to be an entertainment correspondent and maybe someday have my own program people can watch on television.

Ayla: How would you classify your flow?

Cool: I'd classify it as very smooth laid back and melodic. I can switch it up at any time depending on the tempo of the beat, but for the most part it's very smooth.

Ayla: Which artist(s) would be your dream colaboration?
Cool: Oh man, it'd have to be myself ft. Lupe Fiasco, Wale, and Nas. You know what, let's throw Common in there as well. Co-porduced by Kanye West and The Neptunes. Who says I'm not allowed to dream right? ahaha

Ayla: How did you get the name D.M. Cool?
Cool: Well I had other names before that. My name before that was Da Man wit da Masta Plan, I wanted something complex b/c that's how 90% of my rhymes were before. But then as I got older I realized I'm gonna have to shorten it down to make it somewhat catchy for fans all around, so I decided to think of a word to simply describe my overall demeanor and personality, so I thought of the word "cool". I put my two initials in front of it, and that pretty much gives people my overall description.
